HR practitioners often have limited knowledge and formal training in security and threat management. However, we unknowingly address and deal with threats on a regular basis. This presentation will delve into how a sexual assault allegation evolved into a complex case involving family violence. Through this case, we will explore the complexities of case management where jurisdiction, duty of care, religious belief, and employment legislation collide. We will retrospectively evaluate the approach and share lessons learned. The audience will gain insight into how HR teams without internal expertise may deal with scenarios such as this, and develop a greater understanding of key knowledge gaps to be aware of when working with HR professionals who have limited knowledge of behavioral threat assessment and management.
